Media Tech Tonic #3: Sony PMW-EX1 HD camcorder demo/discussion, July 16, 2008

Published by David Tames on Jul 09, 2008 under Meetings

This month’s session will take an in-depth look at the Sony PMW-EX1 XDCAM EX high definition camcorder and field-friendly post-production workflow using Sony XDCAM Transfer software with an Apple MacBook Pro and Final Cut Pro. This camera provides tapeless acquisition with SxS memory cards and stunning high-definition images thanks to three 1/2-inch CMOS sensors, each with an effective pixel count of 1920 x 1080 for true high definition images. The camera features MPEG-2 Long GOP codec for good balance between quality and bit rate, “over-cranking” and “under-cranking”, interval recording, true progressive scan at 24P, 30P, or 60P, and a stunningly crisp LCD display.

Location: Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Tower Building, 11th Floor, Alumni Room (Campus Map | Directions) Note: parking will be available for attendees of this event at the Ward Street lot (see PDF map via link above), the gate will be open from 6pm to 7pm.
